After Effects I If you want to create impressive motion graphics and visual effects for film and video, you’ll need to know Adobe After Effects. This powerful application is used in a variety of contexts such as music videos, feature films, television-news graphics, video rotoscoping and even corporate presentations.

In this 6-lesson class led by broadcast designer and animator Rachel Max, you'll learn how After Effects creates sophisticated motion graphics. You will also learn how to composite videos, images, and audio effects while incorporating text and object animations. You'll learn how to set keyframes on a timeline and work with transform properties, motion paths, masks, and effects while developing a solid foundation in this popular program. It’s time to let the networks know—you’re on your way!

Class Projects and Objectives:

This online class is packed with projects and tips. Students can expect to: 

  • Get familiar with the basic tools and palettes of the After Effects interface.
  • Create your first After Effects composition.
  • Learn how transform properties work in layers.
  • Learn how to import files into After Effects.
  • Learn how to render your first After Effects movie.
  • Working with a given layered Photoshop file, create a short animation.
  • Use layers, transparency, and motion control to create weather effects.
  • Render out your animation as a Quicktime File.
  • Learn how to set your preferences in After Effects.
  • Learn how to use three kinds of interpolation: linear, Bezier, and hold.
  • Learn how to zoom in and out in various AE windows.
  • Learn how to paste motion paths from Illustrator into After Effects.
  • Create an animation of a bouncing ball.
  • Make your ball bounce up and down, stop, and roll in a convincing manner.
  • Demonstrate a basic ability to create and manipulate keyframes using linear and Bezier interpolation.
  • Use scaling, easing, and rotation to create an effective bounce, squash and stretch, and roll.
  • Learn the purpose of Composition Window and Live Preview functions.

  • Refine as needed to integrate with your violator in a satisfactory manner.

  • Learn tips for situations in which to use blending modes.

Class Instructor Bio:

Bruce Bicknellis a writer, instructor, illustrator, animator, Web designer, video editor, marketing pro, and graphic designer based in Tampa, Florida. In his career he has worked on projects for Adobe Systems, ATI, Photoshop Elements Techniques, MacTribe, Yellow Machine and Mac Design to name a few. Bruce has degrees in Computer Animation and Web Development from The International Academy of Design and Technology.

Prerequisites:
  • Adobe After Effects. (no experience is fine)
