Donald Gambino is a computer artist, consultant, educator, and trainer, since 1983, teaching students of all levels and abilities. Formerly the Chairperson of the Computer Art Department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City , he has taught innovative computer art courses for over 12 years, and created the BFA program in Computer Art.

Class Projects and Objectives:

This online class is packed with projects and tips.  Students can expect to: 

  • Get an overview of the Photoshop toolkit.
  • Explore basic digital imaging techniques such as selecting, inverting, transforming, and other forms of image modification.
  • Manipulate the color, shape, and direction of an image using gradients, the color picker, and other tools.

  • Create an image collage from a blueprint.
  • Demonstrate a command of basic digital imaging techniques by manipulating given images.

  • Learn how to set up ruler guides and a grid to help arrange a composition.
  • Get an overview of filters and patterns for creating more advanced digital imaging effects.
  • Learn how to use image tagging.
  • Use color and other effects to change the wall color and floor of an empty room photo.
  • Define and place a pattern as wallpaper and modify the window view.
  • Carefully select and place at least three furniture items in an image of a room.
  • Place accessories and artwork and use distortion to achieve realistic angles.
